Customer service resume goals – Are they important ?

One particular subject is often debated while designing any customer service resume : coming up with an objective.

I took the occasion, while visiting her at work, to interview a friend of mine who is working as a recruitment agent.

I also picked questions from people she had an appointment with.

So if you are looking for a resume help, or wondering how a professional resume should be done, read on !

What would be a good goal for a customer service resume ?

The goals should not be fancy and sound as if you write a legal document. Applying for « a job as a customer service assistant » is sufficient.

If you have a previous experience, you can also write something as « I worked 3 years as assistant / customer service. This was my first job. Now I'm looking for a new position »

Does anyone have any helpful tips for writing an objective for a customer service resume ?

I try to apply for jobs in customer service and got a cv services online company to evaluate my resume. They came back and told me that I over-used the word « I » as to the goal, so that I needed to change a little. At first I thought they were compelled to criticize just because they charge for resume writing services, but after a week looking for a job without getting any response from the employers (I applied for about 100 jobs, and I have four years experience in customer service), I begin to wonder. Can someone help me ?

To recap, the suggestions would be : be clear and concise and stay on the same angle throughout the resume. Since you have experience, include a summary of your previous responsibilities at work in your area. Do not use negative words about these former activities.

What are the core elements of a customer service resume, especially as to the objective ?

Here is an example of elements you could use as basis.

  • First, some details – address, etc.
  • Then your job ideal, such as : "My dream job is something like …." My career goals: "I would like to work for a [size] company in a team with my current skills in customer service …. "
  • Add some details as to possible tertiary (dates included) Make sure your customer service resume is professionally done !education – what, where ….
  • Then where other relevant (current) ventures you are involved in. Mention date, area, who (company).
  • Then as of your other interests, explain some of them, include not only a list of referees, but also personal and academic work.

Would the lack of objective get a customer service resume rejected ?

As objective statements are expected to be in the resume, you don't want to ignore this unwritten rule. However, resume screeners do not always automatically reject resumes that do not include an objective, but rather put them apart for later possible evaluation.

So without an objective, your customer service resume will not get as much attention as another one. Kind of strange for that kind of intended position, isn't it ?
